/ world today news/ “Gazprom” has signed a confidentiality agreement with the company “South Stream Transport” (South Stream Transport) for the implementation of the Turkish Stream construction project, “Vzglyad” reported on Thursday (January 21), citing on TASS.
“Gazprom’s Board of Directors decided to ensure the protection of the received mutual information, which is a trade secret, during the implementation of the project for the construction of an offshore gas pipeline from Russia to Turkey through the waters of the Black Sea,” states a press release of the Russian gas concern . It notes that the agreement will be valid until 2021.
The news comes a day after Gazprom announced that it had terminated its subsidiary Gazprom Export’s contract with South Stream Transport (also owned by the concern) for the transit of oil along the maritime part of South Stream.
A few days ago, the Russian Minister of Energy, Alexander Novak, stated at the prestigious economic “Gaidarovsky Forum” that Moscow is ready to implement the “Turkish Stream” project, provided that the European and Turkish partners show interest, stressing that the negotiations between Russia and Turkey on the gas pipeline are stopped at this point.
In December last year, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the project would be implemented if Turkey received guarantees from Brussels.
South Stream Transport was created between Gazprom, Italy’s Eni, Germany’s Wintershall and France’s EDF to build the South Stream section along the bottom of the Black Sea. After Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the termination of South Stream in late 2014, Gazprom bought the 50 percent of the company that was owned by Western firms.
