Russian gas monopoly Gazprom agreed to the request of the Moldovan government not to stop gas supplies. This was stated by the official representative of the gas holding Sergey Kupriyanov, reports TASS Wednesday, 24 November.

According to him, the Moldovan side pledged to fully pay the current debt on November 26.

“The Moldovan government has asked Gazprom not to stop gas supplies from today. At the same time, the Moldovan side fully recognizes the legitimacy of Gazprom’s actions and undertakes to fully make current payments on Friday, November 26. Gazprom, as an exception, showing goodwill and understanding in what the citizens of the Republic of Moldova may find themselves in a difficult situation, he agreed with this request, “he said.

Kupriyanov added that Gazprom firmly expects Moldova to fully fulfill its contractual obligations in the future and to pay current payments on time.

“The contractual obligations must be fulfilled,” he summed up.

Earlier, Gazprom said that notified Chisinau about the possible termination of gas suppliesif Moldova does not pay the invoice issued for October and November. The Russian company expressed disappointment with the failure of the Moldovan side to fulfill its obligations. But in Chisinau they said they had not received Gazprom’s notification about the possible termination of supplies.

On the eve it became known that Moldova to allocate $ 80 million to pay off debt in front of Gazprom. The money will be allocated from the funds previously provided for increasing the authorized capital of Energocom.
