Gazprom and CNPC have given up dollar payments for gas – 2024-09-02 06:03:21

/ world today news/ The Russian company “Gazprom” and the Chinese CNPC have excluded the dollar from payments for the gas that must be delivered via the western route, announced the general director of “Gazprom Export” Elena Burmistrova.

She noted that for now the two companies are discussing what currency to use instead of the dollar – yuan or rubles, and the final contract for the delivery on the western route has not yet been signed. This is the reason why the currency was not specified in the contract.

The agreement on the basic conditions for the supply of gas on the western route was signed on May 8 by Gazprom and CNPC. The project envisages the supply to China of 30 billion cubic meters of gas from Western Siberia. It is assumed that deliveries will be made via the Altai gas pipeline.

A year ago, Gazprom and CNPC signed a contract for the supply of Russian gas to China and on the eastern route – via the Power of Siberia gas pipeline. The term of the contract is 30 years and it is assumed that the gas quantities will reach 38 billion cubic meters. per year, and the total value of the contract is 400 billion dollars.
