The Israeli army today issued new evacuation orders for several areas in the northwestern part of the Gaza Strip, where it continues its relentless offensive against Hamas, after more than eleven months of war.
The Israeli army’s Arabic-speaking spokesman, Avihai Andrae, posted on X a map of various areas “considered dangerous combat zones”asking their inhabitants to leave them.
“Terrorist organizations are again firing rockets into the State of Israel and carrying out terrorist acts from this region,” Andrae stressed. However, the Israeli military announced in early January that it had “completed the dismantling of the military structure” of Hamas in the northern part of the Palestinian enclave, before beginning its ground operations in the central and southern part of the Palestinian territory.
Earlier today, the al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of Islamic Jihad, another Palestinian militant group in Gaza, claimed responsibility for rocket attacks into Israel, mainly towards the city of Ashkelon.
So far there has been no alleged link between the missile launch and the evacuation order.
