Gaza City –
Group Hamas who is fighting against Israel Of Gaza Stripwarned that no hostages would leave the Palestinian enclave alive unless their demands were met.
As reported AFP and Al ArabiyaMonday (11/12/2023), the warning was conveyed by the spokesman for Hamas’ armed wing, Abu Obeida, in a statement broadcast on television affiliated with the group.
“Neither the fascist enemy nor its arrogant leadership… nor its supporters… will be able to take the hostages alive without exchanges and negotiations, as well as meeting the demands of the resistance,” Obeida stressed in his statement.
Obeida’s so-called demands refer to the release of Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli prisons.
A seven-day ceasefire that took place at the end of November allowed the release of 105 hostages held by Hamas. There were around 80 Israeli citizens among the freed hostages.
Around 105 Hamas hostages were released in exchange for the release of 240 Palestinian prisoners by Israel.
However, the failure of Israel and Hamas to agree on an extension to the break in fighting led to the end of the ceasefire in early December. Israel, on Saturday (9/12) local time, stated that 137 hostages were still being held in the Gaza Strip at this time.
