Israeli airstrikes were retaliated by Palestinian fighters by firing rockets.
Emergency services reported no immediate casualties on either side.
According to local security sources and witnesses, the first round of Israeli airstrikes – at least seven – hit the training center of the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of the Palestinian Islamic movement Hamas. Its center is in the al-Maghazi refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip.
Another round of airstrikes hit the al-Qassam Brigades training center southwest of Gaza City.
The Israeli army claimed its fighter jets had attacked a production site for the production, preservation and storage of raw chemicals along with weapons manufacturing sites belonging to Hamas.
The attack came in response to a rocket launch from the Gaza Strip towards Israel earlier on Wednesday.
After the attack, journalists and AFP witnesses saw new rounds of rockets being fired from Gaza, and new explosions could be heard from Gaza City at around 03:15 local time. New Arab.
The tensions came after cross-border rocket fire from the Gaza Strip last week in retaliation for Israel’s deadly attack in the occupied West Bank in Jenin that killed up to 10 Palestinians, and a shooting attack on an illegal Israeli settlement in annexed east Jerusalem on Friday that killed seven people.
