Our hopes that on the way to Democracy, and especially after our entry into NATO and the EU, our country would succeed and rank among prosperous nations, burst like a soap bubble. Today, Bulgaria is the poorest country in the EU. The devastation has encompassed all sectors. Unemployment, hunger and lack of income forced over 2 million Bulgarians to emigrate. The reasons for this are in the policy imposed on us from outside for the destruction of state property and the policy of the last governing governments. This line is particularly strictly implemented at the moment, by the third government of B. Borisov. It is shaken by corruption scandals, midday robberies and shurobajanish management methods. Political battles between the ruling party and the opposition are a major part of media coverage. It is filled with artistic poses of innocence, assurances of honesty and integrity, and resignations that are not accepted. Behind this media hubbub outside of the public’s attention, there was a startling news from the city of Varna, where the Academic Council of VVMU “Nikola Yonkov Vaptsarov”, on the proposal of the head Professor Boyan Mednikarov, has decided to award Simeon of Saxe-Coburg Gotsky the honorary title of Doctor Honoris Causa . Oh, insolence, folly, shame, and short-sightedness! To make such a decision when you studied and worked here, in the school whose patron is Nikola Yonkov Vaptsarov, is cynicism, because the world-famous poet for his participation in the anti-fascist struggle, was killed by order of Simeon’s father. Because of the poet’s work and because of his fight against fascism, the World Peace Council awarded him its highest honorary award. Didn’t the gentlemen of the Academic Council know this?
No, their act can only be explained by a schizophrenic clouding of their minds!
According to the accepted criteria, the title of Doctor Honoris Causa is awarded to actors who have contributed to the development of science, education, culture and public life, in this situation, the question naturally arises: How does the personality of Simeon Coburggotsky meet these requirements? From his autobiographical book “Simeon the Second – an extraordinary destiny” it can be seen that his educational path passed through various schools that did not provide him with a consistent education. Sam notes with regret that after a two-year visit, he is discontinuing his university education; it is unlikely to be due to lack of funds, more likely to be due to laziness or an inability to meet the high university requirements. The educational level of Simeon the Second does not meet the requirements for receiving the honorary title. As for his public activity, it is widely known to our people. Simeon is a descendant of the Saxe-Coburg Gothic dynasty in Bulgaria. Its representatives during their reign have caused countless sufferings to the Bulgarian people, the members of the Academic Council should know that. The activity of Simeon II himself after his return to Bulgaria in 2001 is also well known. The foreign investment he promised never happened. It is obvious that the motivation for his return was to claim property that the state had provided for use during the reign of his predecessors. At every convenient opportunity, he is titled as Tsar of Bulgaria, although he is the heir of Boris the Third, his rights over the throne are legalized according to the Tarnovo Constitution by a decision of the Grand National Assembly, which decision has not been issued. Simeon’s public activity was motivated entirely by personal and property enrichment and unification of supporters of the Monarchy.
The question arises: What made the Freemasons, led by Boyan Mednikarov, to award Simeon with such an honorary title? Is this the self-initiative of a few military men who have found the walls of the classrooms narrow and decided to join the political battle for power? It is possible that the events in Catalonia helped them with this idea. What is happening in Barcelona, throws all monarchies in terror. In a number of European countries, the monarchy is the basis for government, but it is an outdated and politically unsuitable form. In this state of affairs, the idea of the Varna military to activate and unite the monarchist forces, in order for Simeon to enter the battle for power, and why not in the efforts to restore the Bulgarian monarchy, is not meaningless? The intervention of the military in political battles always brings danger to democracy, the history of the country proves it. We are disturbed by the unreasonable and dangerous action of the members of the Academic Council of the VVMU. It is a shame for those who work there, for the students and for all the graduates of this elite school, most of whom spread the glory of Bulgaria as a maritime country. With her decision, this self-forgetful woman allows herself to associate the name of the school with Simeon II, heir to a dynasty that is responsible for two national catastrophes and the death of tens of thousands of worthy Bulgarians.
Gentlemen, come to your senses and realize your folly! Revoke your criminal decision! Otherwise, your names will be written in the ignominious annals of history. We call on all democratic forces to oppose and condemn the decision of the Academic Council as dangerous for social development.
