The world-famous Gävlebukken has once again been set on fire.
It reports several Swedish media.
– It was overheated and is very soon completely burnt out, says press contact in the police, Petra Blomqvist added Expressen.
The rescue services were notified of the fire at 03.38 last night.
According to witnesses, the fire started in a small buck, before it spread to the big buck.
A man in his 40s has been arrested, suspected of having started the fire.
– It was witnesses who confronted the man. He became defensive and claimed he had no lighter. The man also had soot on his hands, says Blomqvist.
This is not the first time that Gävlebukken is set on fire. according to Aftonbladet a record was set last weekend, when it had not burned in five years.
The last time the goat burned was in 2016, the same year as it turned 50 years old.
Already the first year Gävlebukken was set up after an idea from Stig Gavlén that a Christmas goat could attract more visitors to the city, it was attacked.
– On New Year’s Eve, at midnight, someone lit the buck, Maria Wallgren, Gävlebukken’s spokesperson, told Dagbladet in 2018.

She also said that the goat had undergone 29 fires, which makes the night’s fire the third in a row.
