Gavin Didzilatis: VfB Lübeck’s New Talented Goalkeeper

VfB Lübeck has once again strengthened its position as goalkeeper: 21-year-old Gavin Didzilatis is moving from the west regional league club 1. FC Köln II to the Green-Whites. The goalkeeper signed a third division contract at Lohmühle until June 30, 2024.

After starting out at JSG Ripdorf, the native of Uelzen played for five years in the youth team at Hamburger SV, where he was then taken on to the regional league team. Last year he switched to the U23s of 1. FC Köln in the Regionalliga West. The 1.88 meter tall keeper has played five games in the regional league so far.

VfB sporting director Sebastian Harms says: “In Gavin we are gaining a talented goalkeeper for our goalkeeping team, who we are convinced will take the next step in his career with us. I’ve known Gavin for years and, in addition to his qualities as a goalkeeper, I’m particularly convinced that he will make our team better with his ability to work in a team, his ambition and his positive demeanor.”

Gavin Didzilatis says: “When the request came from Lübeck, I didn’t have to think long. I wanted to go back north anyway, and I’m really looking forward to a traditional club like VfB and its fans. I think that as an emotional type, I fit in very well with the Lohmühle. In the 3rd league and with two experienced goalkeepers next to me, I can learn a lot and develop personally. Regardless of what role I play, my goal is always to push the team to do my part to make it a successful season, because VfB definitely belongs in professional football.”
