Industrialist Gautam Adani reportedly met with Sharad Pawar, leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), at his residence in Mumbai. The closed-door meeting lasted almost two hours, with no details released. The meeting is significant in light of recent developments related to allegations against Adani; Pawar publicly supported Adani and said that a judicial committee probe would be sufficient to investigate the Hindenburg report allegations that trace Rs 20,000 crore. This caused a relief to the opposition who had been calling for a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe. The meeting between Adani and Pawar is viewed with great importance, as it takes place against the backdrop of Maharashtra state politics. A similar meeting between the two back in 2014 helped to resolve a political stalemate in Maharashtra that led to the formation of a BJP government under Devendra Fadnavis in the state.
