Gautam Adani Becomes Asia’s Richest Man After His Treasure Soars To Rp1,752 T

Businessman Asia is the richest in the world Gautam Adani his wealth soared to more than US $ 100 billion. Now, he holds the title of the world’s newest centi-billionaire, along with eight other business moguls, including Elon MuskJeff Bezos dan Bill Gates.

Reported from Forbes, Wednesday (13/4), Adani’s assets are worth around US$122 billion or equivalent to Rp.1.752 trillion (assuming an exchange rate of Rp.14,361 per US dollar) on Monday (11/4) afternoon. According to the billionaire tracker Forbes, the amount of wealth that brings Adani to the position of the richest person in Asia and ranked sixth in the world.

His wealth rose after International Holding Co. (IHC) in Abu Dhabi invested US$2 billion in its three renewable energy-focused companies, namely Adani Green Energy, Adani Transmission and Adani Enterprises.

The IHC is chaired by Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the United Arab Emirates’ national security adviser and brother of the country’s crown prince, Sheik Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Since news of the investment surfaced, Adani Green Energy’s shares jumped nearly 25 percent, Adani Transmission and Adani Enterprises jumped 11 percent and 3 percent, respectively.

The spike had an impact on Adani’s wealth. Adani, now 59, is the founder and chairman of the Adani Group, a port and energy conglomerate with six publicly listed companies in India.

He first joined the ranks of billionaires in 2008, with an estimated net worth of US$9.3 billion. However, the momentum to increase his wealth only came at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, after his business began to make a massive expansion into the renewable energy sector, media, airports, and more.

Adani says he wants to become the world’s largest producer of green energy, investing up to US$70 billion in renewable energy projects.

Adani’s estimated wealth jumped from US$8.9 billion to US$50.5 billion in April 2021, when Forbes released its annual World Billionaires list for that year.

He went on to beat fellow Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries, as the richest person in Asia in February 2022. Ambani is now the second richest person in Asia with a fortune of nearly $100 billion, with around $99.4 billion.
