The penultimate climb of the day was the warm-up for the final climb. The peloton stayed together, but Ineos set the pace.
Ineos still had 5 pawns on the Foia. They continued to work at the front of the pack. Remco Evenepoel could count on Louis Vervaeke.
Not many riders took the initiative on the final climb. Only Dylan van Baarle tried it once, but Vervaeke was able to close the gap in the service of Evenepoel.
Until 3 kilometers from the finish, Vervaeke led the pace, leading the pack, but then the gravy was out of his legs. A rider from Efapel dreamed of a fairytale on the Foia and ran off alone, but that didn’t last very long either. lang.
It was Daniel Felipe Martinez who started the sprint. Evenepoel was good, but had to hold back thanks to a maneuver by Brandon Mcnulty.
The sprint was marred by a crash. Tobias Foss and Sergio Higuita hit the ground in the final meters and David Gauda took advantage. Remco Evenepoel became 4th.
