The Surinamese government announced this on Thursday 14 April 2022. Essentially, the following has been changed:
- The MoHaNa rules now have the status of urgent advice.
- The gathering ban has been lifted completely.
- Measures regarding the entry policy and border passes have been adjusted.
From Wednesday 13 April 2022, the following measures will apply until further notice:
Measure 1 – The general measures;
- wearing mouth and nose cover in confined spaces, at large indoor gatherings (more than 50 people) and in places where the necessary distance cannot be maintained.
- Neem the 1,5 meters physical distance, the so-called COVID-19 distance, always observe.
- Was regularly uw hands with soap and water or use a hand sanitizer.
Measure 2 – Commercial activities;

Measure 3 – Traffic
- From 13 April 2022 until further notice, only flights from the following countries are allowed in Surinamese airspace:
- The Netherlands, the Netherlands Antilles, Guyana, French Guiana, Brazil, Panama, Trinidad & Tobago, the United States of America, Cuba and the Dominican Republic: outbound and inbound flights for cargo and passenger traffic;
- Haiti: Passenger traffic only allowed for residents of the Republic of Suriname and persons who will be deployed in the development of specific sectors after explicit prior permission from the Surinamese authorities to the companies.
- From Guyana and French Guiana, goods and passenger traffic on water will be allowed in the period from 13 April 2022 until further notice.
- Travelers who have been fully vaccinated against the SARS-CoV-2 virus will be allowed to travel from 13 April 2022 until further notice to travel from Suriname abroad (outbound) and from abroad to Suriname (inbound) only if they in and outbound passenger traffic are demonstrably fully vaccinated against the Covid-19 virus.
- A person shall be considered fully vaccinated within the meaning of this Article if:
- Two weeks have passed since the second vaccination of the vaccines: AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria), AZD1222 (SK Bioscience Co Ltd.), Covishield, Covaxine, Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech, Sinopharm and Sinovac; or
- Two weeks have passed since the first vaccination of the Johnson & Johnson / Janssen & Janssen vaccine; or
- Two weeks have passed after the second vaccination of the vaccines: Soberana 1, 2, plus or Abdala or Sputnik V, provided that a negative SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR test result is not older than 48 hours before departure of the ( aircraft to Suriname, and a SARS-CoV-2 antigen test has been taken on the third day after arrival in Suriname at an officially accredited test location by the Ministry of Health.
Children under the age of 18 are exempt and are therefore considered fully vaccinated within the meaning of this article.
- Travelers who are not or not fully vaccinated against the SARS-CoV-2 virus and who are residents of Suriname or are diplomats will be allowed to travel from abroad to Suriname (inbound) from 13 April 2022 until further notice only if they are in possession of a negative SARS-CoV-2 antigen test result not older than 24 hours before departure of the (air)craft to Suriname or a negative SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR test result not older than 48 hours before departure of the (air)vessel to Suriname.
- Children under 12 years of age are exempt from the requirement to show a negative SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR test result or a negative SARS-CoV-2 antigen test result.
Measure 4 – Restrictions for people in isolation or quarantine
Without prejudice to what has been determined or decided in this regard by or pursuant to the Infectious Diseases Act 1953 or another statutory regulation, persons against whom a measure of quarantine, isolation or mandatory stay at home has been notified or imposed, is prohibited from evading or outside their to enter or be in a home or accommodation.
