Several countries in Europe are afraid that Russia will stop the supply of gas, so that they will partly run out of energy.
No shortages
GTS is the owner and operator of the gas transport network in the Netherlands and advises on the security of gas supply. Out the researchwhich GTS did on its own initiative, shows that even when Germany declares a gas crisis and knocks on the door of the Netherlands for extra gas, this will not lead to shortages in the Netherlands.

For this, however, seven preconditions must be met, says Gasunie GT. For example, the current approximately 20 percent lower market demand due to the high gas prices must continue, and there must be no capacity limitation at the Dutch coal-fired power stations.
The Dutch LNG capacity must also be doubled through the expansion of Gate Terminal and the new EmsEnergy Terminal, which is being developed by Gasunie.

Extra Groningen gas not necessary
GTS director Bart Jan Hoevers calls it ‘good news’ for Dutch customers ‘that under preconditions no one will be obliged to switch off gas in the coming winter. As a result, other emergency measures such as extra production from the Groningen field do not appear to be necessary in the coming months.’
GTS also makes a number of reservations. In the event of a cold winter or setbacks in the LNG supply, practice may deviate significantly from the figures used for the calculations.
