Atalanta coach said he had sent Ronaldo for a walk, as a joke.
After tormenting Atalanta’s life for two consecutive games in the Champions League, Cristiano Ronaldo heard from the opposing coach the feeling of frustration he left in the Italians. Speaking to Sky Sports, Gian Piero Gasperini revealed the content of the conversation he had with the Portuguese star after the game this Tuesday (2-2), with the striker scoring the equalizer in added time.
“What did I tell you at the end of the first half? It’s going for a ride,” the experienced Italian coach said with a smile. “He’s an amazing player, someone can say it’s a problem, but I wanted to have problems like that…”, he added.
Remember that in the previous round of the Champions League, Ronaldo also scored the winning goal (3-2) in extra time. This time, in Italy, he ended up scoring twice.
“Nine out of ten shots he hits the goal,” said the coach. “It was a fantastic night, Ronaldo’s goal came in the end, an incredible feat, but we played a great game. If we had won it would have been the best, but we came close. The pride is very high,” he concluded.
