The region has seen an upsurge in infections in recent days.
This is particularly the case in Haute-Gaspésie, which has recorded eight new cases since the start of the week. This is because of an outbreak affecting the small municipality of Marsoui. These are variants.
The teaching is done remotely at the village primary school until the end of next week.
With the epidemiological investigations and the interventions carried out, public health affirms that the situation is under control.
More cases could be added over the next few hours, but these are people already in isolation.
A screening trailer was installed in the village at the start of the week. In two days, nearly 150 people were tested for prevention.
Currently, there are four active outbreaks in Gaspé. They are under control, according to health authorities.
“We can continue to stay with a yellow bearing without any problem if we remember each other the basic rules,” said the director of public health for Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine, Dr. Yv Bonnier Viger.
When is the green light for the tourist season?
There are a lot of questions about the tourist season. The travel ban is still in effect for citizens coming from the orange or red levels to the Gaspé.
The regional director of public health explains that a decision should be taken towards the end of May on the issue. The number of cases and the vaccination rate are factors to consider.
“It is to be able to give all the same a little time to tourist operators. Suppose we would have reached May 31 today, well unfortunately, we should tell them that we will have to wait a little longer, then delay the season a little because the difference in virus circulation between the different regions is too high. great, ”added Dr Bonnier Viger.
