The president of the Chamber’s Education Commission, deputy Gaspar Rivas (People’s Party), referred to the events of sexual connotation that occurred at the Villa Centinela Sur School in Talcahuano, where parents denounced in a health operation, that did not have the consent or supervision of the parents, there would have been exercises that included touching the fifth grade students.
The parliamentarian expressed that “we are deeply concerned”, and for this reason, he announced that in his capacity as president of the Commission “next week we are going to urgently and extraordinarily summon both the Minister of Education and the Minister of Health, because these two portfolios are involved in this situation that, if effective, is totally and absolutely unacceptable.
The next session of the instance is on Tuesday, June 13, where that day “on the table, we are going to summon the minister (of Education) and the minister of health to listen to their explanations, which, I reiterate, is unacceptable.”
Asked about the participation of other authorities close to the event, Deputy Gaspar Rivas replied that “we can analyze the possibility of summoning the mayor of Talcahuano. I think it could be interesting that he was here to explain to us what are the connotations of this type of situations, activities and exercises, in quotes, to which children are subjected and which are far from having any pedagogical nature”.
“It could be, and I would like to hear from them if this is just an isolated unacceptable situation or if it corresponds to a government policy. Either from the Ministry of Education, from the Ministry of Health, from both together, or why not, perhaps a policy only from the municipality of Talcahuano”, he added.
Finally, he concluded by noting that “we hope to have the three authorities.”
