The best-selling Natural 95 cost an average of CZK 36.08 per liter on Wednesday, according to CCS, the same as diesel. The movement of prices has been minimal since the second week of January, in the last seven days the price of petrol has increased by seven pennies and diesel has not changed at all.
Even last year at this time, it was sold for a crown per liter more expensive, in October gasoline and diesel cost on average over 40 crowns per liter.
“Drivers can enjoy affordable prices and this should not change significantly in the future. I expect price stagnation for the next week,” BH Securities Chief Economist Štěpán Křeček told Práv.
He drew attention to tensions in the Red Sea, where shipping prices are rising dramatically. “However, it does not affect the oil market and its price remains at the level of 78 dollars per barrel. That’s the same as mid-December,” he noted.
The koruna weakened against the dollar for the week from CZK 22.50 to around CZK 22.75, and this could contribute to the upward movement of fuel prices, but only by a few pennies.
Prices are favorable even compared to foreign countries. With the exception of gasoline, which is several tens of pennies cheaper in Poland, the Czech Republic has the lowest prices among neighboring countries. In Germany, a liter will cost eight crowns more, in Austria and Slovakia by less than two crowns. Diesel is six crowns more expensive per liter in Germany and four crowns more in Austria.
