Gasoline and diesel prices have fallen again since last week

Despite the cheaper, however, fuels are still significantly more expensive than a year ago. At that time, motorists paid 10.93 crowns less per liter of petrol, diesel was cheaper by 15.15 crowns. However, according to XTB analyst Jiří Tyleček, the decline in prices has stopped.

“According to CCS, the price of fuels fell slightly last week, but after Easter the situation began to reverse. Fuels began to rise again, with oil rising higher in recent days. Oil has not escaped significant price increases, which have already been reflected in Rotterdam fuels “Tylecek said.

According to him, diesel on the Dutch stock exchange has risen by more than a tenth in the last week. “And this price is the guide for prices at gas stations in the Czech Republic. Unfortunately, the Czech koruna, which has stagnated at the pair with the US dollar for which fuels are traded, will not help to reduce prices. The current decline in fuel prices in April should be at least for now at the end, “said Tyleček.

Gasoline and diesel prices rose to record highs around March 10 as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, after which oil rose sharply and the koruna weakened against the dollar. A liter of Natural 95 cost up to more than 47 crowns on average, the average price of diesel exceeded 49.50 CZK / l. In the following period, prices mostly fell.

The cheapest fuels are now refueled by drivers in the South Bohemian Region, where a liter of petrol costs an average of CZK 41.65 and a liter of diesel costs CZK 43.90. On the contrary, the most expensive are gas stations in Prague. A liter of petrol costs them an average of CZK 43.12. Diesel is refueled in the capital for an average of CZK 45.39 / l.

The government has reduced excise taxes

Last week, in response to a sharp rise in fuel prices, the government approved a draft amendment to the law on a temporary reduction in excise duty on diesel and petrol by 1.5 crowns per liter. The measure should apply from the beginning of June to the end of September, the Ministry of Finance is considering introducing a reduction for diesel permanently. The legislative change has yet to be approved by parliament.

According to the Ministry of Finance, prices at gas stations could fall by as much as 1.8 crowns per liter. A tax of 12.84 crowns is now paid on a liter of petrol and 9.95 crowns of diesel.
