Gazprom yesterday sent an official letter to Moldovagaz, in which it announced its intention to stop natural gas supplies to Moldova in case of non-payment of current gas supplies by January 20. In other words, we have an official letter saying that there is a real risk of cutting off natural gas supplies,” she said.
The premier noted that in previous years, Gazprom allowed Moldovagaz to pay for current gas supplies during the cold season with a delay of several months.
“Unfortunately, Gazprom threatens to leave consumers without gas, instead of taking measures that will help Moldovagaz fulfill its contractual obligations to consumers and suppliers. Despite the fact that the concern owns a majority stake in Moldovagaz,” she stressed Gavrilitsa.
According to her, the government believes that there is a real threat to the energy security of the country.
“Therefore, a meeting of the Commission for Emergency Situations will be held today. It is necessary to introduce a state of emergency in the energy sector in the country,” Gavrilitsa said.
Accordingly, if such a decision is made by the Commission on Emergency Situations, tomorrow the prime minister will go to parliament to approve this decision.
