Gas will be more expensive for customers of Energie Wasser Bern (ewb) from July 1st. Due to the measures taken to ensure security of supply, the tariffs are increasing.

The total costs of gas purchases increase by an average of 23 percent over a twelve-month period, as ewb announced on Friday. Due to an impending energy shortage last winter, the energy supplier secured the gas supply very early on the market. This was done with the focus on security of supply in a phase with significantly higher market prices.
According to the communiqué, significantly less natural gas was required than was contractually procured due to last mild winter. This leads to a price increase for tariff customers. The procurement costs are now passed on with a delay and smoothed.
