The list of charges is long. The 30-year-old had to answer for, among other things, serious bodily harm, attempted coercion, endangering physical security, resistance to state violence and damage to property.
Outing and marriage proposal freaked out the defendants
A quarrel with an acquaintance made the accused completely freaked out at the time of the crime. “We were good friends for three months,” said the 30-year-old in court on Tuesday. Then the other suddenly came out and proposed to him. “I refused,” said the man from Graz. Then there was a violent argument and he shot a gas pistol at the wall of the house and fired the gun again in the stairwell. The missile hit a window behind which a man was standing, but he was not injured.
He only bought the gun that day. “I shouldn’t have done that,” came the late realization. He already has three criminal records, and his main problem is alcohol. He also rioted violently when the police tried to arrest him and injured one of the officers.
Remorseful confession as a moderation
“How are you supposed to go on?” The presiding judge asked the defendant. He replied that he wanted to move away from Graz, Graz was his “downfall”. In the future he would like to live with his uncle, who will employ him in agriculture. “He was on the right track and passed out,” said the defender.
“You have already had many chances,” said the judge, who, due to the “remorseful and comprehensive confession”, left it at ten months’ imprisonment plus five months from a suspended conditional sentence. The accused assumed the prosecutor made no statement. The judgment is not final.
