LEEUWARDEN – On Monday morning around ten o’clock, a gas leak occurred during excavation work on the Beemdgras.
Excavation work was underway for a new electrical cable. During the excavation, a mini crane hit the pipe, causing a leak. For safety, the road at the beginning of the Beemdgras is closed.
There was a distinct hiss and a strong gas smell to the north of the leak. Liander arrived on site just before eleven o’clock to shut off the leak and work to repair it could begin.
