Viktor Duvald Karlsson is the women’s head coach, and of course he is very happy on a day like this!

Congratulations on the promotion, how does this feel?
– It feels great! This is what we have been working on all year and the girls are so awesome! We have put up with training times a bit everywhere, there have been a lot of challenges but we still managed. It’s great fun.

The journey from the decision to start a team, to squad selection, to today when you have one game left this year, has gone quickly. Can you summarize what this year has been like?
– It has been a special year. The series is difficult to play, there have been various challenges, withdrawing teams, and it is extremely difficult with single meetings. But in general, despite that, we’ve had a good season. I think this is the start of something big!
yes
Above all, you have fought against IFK Göteborg at the top of the table, they will also go up, what is the most opposition you expect in division 4?
– It will be different, hopefully it means better matches. Winning 19-0… sure, scoring goals is fun, but we want challenging football. I think it will go just as well, we aim to develop the team further, and I’m looking forward to next season!

On Saturday you play the last series game of the year, what would you like to say to those who haven’t seen any of your games at their venue yet?
– Come and check it out! What we offer is fun football, with a focus on thinking attacks. Now that the men have such a great audience, you can actually come watch a game with us too. But I want to say that we have been really supportive from the crowd, great supporters and also the mackerels who help with the arrangement of the games. It has been great!

One of the team’s captains, Maria Kalméus, was told that the promotion is complete:

Congratulations, how does this sound to you?
– It feels so good, so good! We have counted on the whole season that two teams would go up, so it was a bit stressful for a few days here when it was a bit unclear, there was an issue that would cause only one team to go up. He felt very sad. So it’s really nice that it’s finished, it’s what we wanted, so it’s great!
You are an Urgasian, and it meant a lot to you to be part of this team, can you describe this year with your new team?
– It’s so crazy, a year ago it was just like a dream. it felt big and unreal. Now it feels very natural because we have got on so well as a team and see each other all the time. So when I step back and think that I’m playing in GAIS, captain, we’ve stepped up to fourth place, it feels magical. I am so proud and happy.
Is there a game that stands out during the season for you personally?
– Both derbies (against IFK Göteborg U and Örgryte IS, editor’s note) were fun to play, they were good games. The Division 5 is a strange series with strange games. When you win 11-0, it becomes a strange game picture. It’s fun to face better teams and measure ourselves against the highest, I’ll remember those games the most. But also for the incredible support of the crowd at these games!
What are your expectations for Region 4?
– It will be so exciting because it has become a better series now that it is not the lowest series. There are, for example, many B teams, development teams, and it will be a regular season with many games instead of a single series. So I’m looking forward to a better challenge and to improve our game more, so hopefully that will take us up a notch as well.
What are you most looking forward to right now?
– Playing the last game on Saturday, I hope we finish the season in the best way, with a win and many good goals. And then celebrate with the team, celebrate the first year and save for the next one, breathe out a little and look forward!
