Gas Explosion in Lviv: 4 Rescued, 2 People Still Trapped Under Rubble

In Lviv, a gas explosion occurred in the garage of a private house. Four people were rescued, another person may be under the rubble.

On the evening of December 23, gas exploded in a two-story private residential building on Princess Olga Street. This was announced by the mayor of the city Andrei Sadovy.

According to the mayor, as a result of the explosion, load-bearing walls were destroyed.

Meanwhile, the State Emergency Service of the Lviv region clarified in a media commentary that the child had already been taken out from under the rubble of the house and handed over to doctors. There is no information about his condition yet. Rescuers continue to clear the rubble.

It is known that as a result of the incident, traffic along Princess Olga Street from Sakharov Street to Vladimir the Great Street in the direction of Nauchnaya Street was blocked.

Updated: City Mayor Andrei Sadovy noted that, according to preliminary information, a gas explosion occurred in the garage of a private house where 6 people live. 2 children and 2 women were injured – they were taken to the hospital with burns. The condition of the victims is not serious. Rescuers are looking for 2 more men. They may be under rubble.

At the same time, as of 22:01, the State Emergency Service reported that two people had been rescued from the rubble, including one child.

They clarified that the explosion of the gas-air mixture occurred around 20:48. He destroyed the wall and caused a fire.

As of 22:35, the first death became known. The body of a 70-year-old woman was found at the scene of the tragedy.

Later it became known that the body of a man approximately 40-45 years old was also recovered from the rubble.
