Billy Gilmour impressed in Scotland-England draw at Wembley (. Via.)
Gary Neville believes Chelsea’s Billy Gilmour is “technically better” than Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips.
Gilmour secured his first senior start for Scotland for their Euro 2020 clash against England at Wembley on Friday night and the 20-year-old shone in the heart of his side’s midfield.
Gilmour was named man of the match for his performance against Gareth Southgate’s side, which saw Scotland reach the knockout stage ahead of their final group game against Croatia on Tuesday.
The midfielder has enjoyed a solid end to the national season under Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea.
And Neville believes Gilmour’s performance at Wembley was a “sobering experience” for the England midfielder.
‘He entered a cup match against Liverpool in his first game [for Chelsea] and he was brilliant, ”Neville told ITV Sport.

“His temper is fantastic, he accepts the ball, watch these clips, it’s a sobering experience for England.
‘Gilmour, McGinn and McGregor were better on the ball than the English midfielders but not only that, Tierney, Hanley and McTominay at the back were better on the ball passing it to midfield, Stones, Mings, Rice and Phillips struggled to get this build-up play right last night.

“Gilmour has always been available, England don’t have this player.
“People might point to Kalvin Phillips, but he’s not as good with the ball, at accepting the ball, as Gilmour. Technically, he’s doing a little better.
