should be greeted with joy by the community
Garut (ANTARA) – The Garut Regency Health Office, West Java, will soon implement a new vaccination program, namely the Rotavirus (RV) vaccine to prevent diarrhea and the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine for cervical cancer in women which will be held on August 9, 2023.
“Kick off on August 9, all health services, both at health centers and private clinics, are moving to provide vaccination services which will later be included in routine and follow-up immunizations,” said Head of Disease Prevention and Control (P2P) of the Garut Health Office (Dinkes) Asep Surachman when holding a meeting with Immunization Coordinators from 67 Community Health Centers in Cipanas, Garut, Monday.
He said the Garut Health Office had taken steps to prepare for the vaccination activity by holding outreach to health entities directly or virtually by presenting Immunization Consultants from the World Health Organization (WHO) Indonesia.
The meeting, said Asep, discussed the introduction of new vaccines, namely the RV and HPV type vaccinations, the two vaccines namely for RV are aimed at preventing diarrhea in toddlers and will be given three times at the ages of 2 months, 3 months and 4 months by giving 5 drops for each immunization. .
Meanwhile, the HPV vaccine, he said, was aimed at preventing uterine cervical cancer in women and was given twice to girls aged 5th grade, then repeated the following year in 6th grade.
“This (HPV) is given twice at the age of 5th grade, repeated again the next year at the age of 6th grade for female elementary school students,” he said.

He conveyed the plan that the Garut Regency Government will conduct the first day of RV and HPV immunization on August 9, 2023 in all health services, such as health centers and private clinics, then it will become routine and implemented in all health facilities.
He revealed that the provision of RV and HPV vaccination is important because it reflects the high cases of diarrhea in infants and cervical cancer in adult women in Indonesia.
With the new vaccine, he said, it is hoped that people will not have to worry and be afraid anymore, especially since the vaccine is given by dripping for the RV vaccine and injected for the HPV vaccine.
Asep added, the vaccination program must get support from the community because it is free, so far if it is done independently the costs are quite expensive, for this it must be welcomed in order to maintain the health of the Indonesian generation.
“Later it should be greeted with joy by the public, especially since diseases that have been causing death, especially in women, cervical cancer can be prevented as early as possible,” said Asep.
