Jakarta –
The head of the RT in Bandar Lampung, Wawan Kurniawan, was named a suspect in relation to the action the disbandment of the Tabernacle of David Christian Church congregation (GKKD). The Garuda Party supports the National Police in processing the case.
“The perpetrator who dispersed the congregation that was worshiping in Bandar Lampung has now become a suspect and is under arrest. Of course this is a positive thing,” said Garuda Party deputy chairman (Waketum) Teddy Gusnaidi, Saturday (18/3/2023).
He said that in the 1945 Constitution, the state guarantees every Indonesian citizen to embrace and worship according to their religion. He hoped that no one would limit other parties’ worship activities.
“Where it is no longer permissible for anyone to limit other people’s right to worship in this country, because this country is a pluralistic country,” he added.
According to him, cases of disbanding worship must continue to be processed so as to create a deterrent effect and so that similar cases do not recur.
“So don’t settle this act in a family manner anymore, because if it’s not legally processed, this arbitrary action will happen again,” he said.
He said banning people from worshiping was not an accidental act. According to him, a party that prohibits or dissolves the worship of another party does this consciously.
“Therefore, there is no other reason than the legal process and be given a punishment commensurate with his actions. It should not be resolved in a family way,” he said.
“There have been many incidents like this that have been resolved amicably, as a result there is no deterrent effect, so these acts happen again and again,” he added.
Previously, the RT head in Bandar Lampung, Wawan Kurniawan, was named a suspect in connection with the disbandment of the Kemah Daud Christian Church (GKKD) congregation. He dismissed the congregation that was worshiping some time ago.
Reported by detikSumut, Thursday (16/3), Head of Public Relations of the Lampung Police Kombes Zahwani Pandra Arsyad said that Wawan had been detained after becoming a suspect. He said Wawan was detained at the Lampung Police.
“Yes, it’s true, last night the person concerned (Wawan) was named a suspect. Currently he has been detained at the Lampung Regional Police,” he said.
Pandra said there were 15 witnesses being examined. In addition, the police have asked for expert testimony to complete the examination file. The police also confiscated evidence in the form of CCTV footage, videos, agreement letters, permits, and report cards.
