TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Airline Garuda Indonesia signed a memorandum of understanding or MoU with Singapore Airlines to expand its commercial partnership. Through this partnership, Garuda Indonesia passengers can use Singapore Airlines services from Singapore to Bali, Jakarta and Surabaya.
Passengers from Indonesia who buy Garuda tickets can also enjoy flights to London with the Singaporean airline. This is because Garuda has now closed many of its international flight routes.
“We are committed to supporting the acceleration of economic recovery and tourism by participating in ensuring the readiness of air transportation infrastructure, especially to anticipate the vaccination travel route (VTL) program between Indonesia and Singapore,” said the President Director Garuda Indonesia Irfan Setiaputra, Friday night, 26 November.
The signing was carried out by Irfan and Chief Executive Officer of Singapore Airlines, Goh Choon Phong, on 26 November. This signing also marks the opening of the no-vaccine or VTL travel route program agreed between Indonesia and Singapore, which will take effect from November 29, 2021.
The collaboration is expected to explore wider partnerships and offer added value for passengers through various options. “We hope that the commercial cooperation between the two airlines will create a more comfortable and safe travel experience for passengers in the midst of increasing air traffic between countries,” said Irfan.
Garuda Indonesia and Singapore Airlines, Irfan continued, agreed to optimize the potential for program alignment frequent flyer, joint marketing activities, and initiatives to promote tourism in Indonesia.
