PT Garuda Indonesia Tbk (GIIA) terminated the employment relationship (layoffs) to apply early retirement employees to save on company costs.
This pruning step is a corporate restructuring of the effort right sizing. In the past four years, there has been a decline in the ratio of the composition of employees to an average of 17 percent.
From the presentation of the company’s performance, the number of employees in 2019 reached 7,878 people, then decreased by 25 percent to 5,946 in 2020. Then it fell again by 12 percent to 5,203 people in 2021, then decreased again by 14 percent to 4,459 in 2022.
“Garuda has reduced the number of employees,” said Garuda’s main director, Irfan Setiaputra, quoted as saying detikFinanceTuesday (30/5).
In this adjustment, the company claims to have put forward voluntary options and accelerated retirement. In addition, there are also contract settlement, compensation and implementation options to remain conducive both internally and externally.
From Garuda’s data, in 2022 the number of employees who retired early was recorded at 752 people. Then employees whose contract completion was accelerated were 78 people. That way, the total number of employees who will be furloughed will reach 830 people in 2022.
