The Flagstaff Police Department said in a statement that the case is closed and it has been determined that Garrison killed himself. “There was no violence and it was not murder. He took his own life.” It is still unclear whether Garrison was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The police are still waiting for a report from the pathologist.
A publicly released police report also shows that Gabe, Garrison’s younger brother, found his body on the evening in question. He says in the report that his brother had been struggling with his mental health for a long time and had an alcohol addiction. Garrison’s mother Janelle was also questioned, as were his three roommates Tyler, Cheyenne and Addison. “Addison reports that he had several conversations with Garrison about how depressed he had been lately. He also explains that Garrison was an alcoholic and that he drank every night,” an officer wrote.
The report states that Addison spoke with Garrison the night before his death and that he appeared intoxicated at the time. Although the two spent a lot of time together, Addison said he never saw a “red flag” when it came to Garrison’s behavior. Janelle says that the app traffic between her and Garrison stopped the night before his death and that he sent disturbing texts. Garrison is said to have texted a group of people the Brown family is working with for their TLC show Sister Wives. “I want to hate you for sharing the good times. But I can’t. I miss the good old days,” the message allegedly read.
Janelle then decided to text her son, after which there was some app traffic for a while. Then Garrison stopped responding. Janelle says in the report that she regrets not helping Garrison sooner. She also emphasizes that Garrison no longer had contact with his father Kody.
