CERVIA (ITALPRESS) – Giampiero Garofalo, riding Max Van Lentz Schrans, is the number one in the absolute Italian show jumping championship 2023. The first airman chosen has won the most important national event of federal interest in show jumping in the field green of the Equestrian Club Le Siepi of Cervia (Ra). Already in fifth position after the first day of competition, the Air Force athlete obtained the top of the classification, after two almost perfect tests, without penalties for obstacles (3.35 penalties in total) in the two-course race with obstacles of a 1 meter and sixty centimeters and designed by the Chef de Piste Uliano Vezzani. The silver medal went to Michol Del Signore riding the piebald bay Irish Coffee (14.14 penalties in total), bronze for Francesco Turturiello, already in the best three of the 2022 edition, who returns to the podium of the overall championship riding Made In’t Ruytershof (14.15 penalties in total). “This medal – commented Garofalo – is a wonderful satisfaction. The podium of the Italian championship, in fact, officially announces the first three pairs that will take part in the 90th edition of the Csio in Rome-Piazza di Siena (May 25-28) according to the provisions of the Program of the Show Jumping Department of the Italian Federation Equestrian Sports: the winner of the absolute championship will, in fact, be included in the list of Italian riders with the right to enter the Grand Prix, subject to qualification where applicable, while the second and third, subject to evaluation by the Selector, will be included either in the list with possibility of access to the Grand Prix or in the list of riders who will not have access to the Grand Prix. Yesterday, in Cervia, also the visit of the president of Coni Giovanni Malagò, who, after awarding the best classified in the first round of the Amazon Championship, presented a special certificate to Lalla Novo, the “Doctor” of the equestrian world, president of the Committee Organizer Le Siepi di Cervia and historic show jumping champion. Malagò, together with Di Paola, has conferred a special recognition on Lalla Novo: the Federal Council has in fact named her Meritorious Member, in an exciting moment for her career, as an athlete and sports manager, to celebrate her fundamental contribution in the equestrian world. “I’m happy to be here – said Malagò – because I see a very nice atmosphere: athletes and enthusiasts of all ages, horses and families together in a combination of nature, competition and great sport. This event will not only let us know the best combinations in Italy for 2023, but will offer riders and amazons the chance to realize their dream of trying to get a result on the Piazza di Siena field, which is a competition of great prestige and charm , which also takes us to the Olympic qualifying phase, both individual and as a team, an aspect that particularly interests us”. Tomorrow, Sunday, the finals of all the other competitions scheduled: the Criterium Seniores 2nd degree, 1st degree and patents, Criterium Amazons 1st and 2nd degree, the Amazons Trophy 1st degree, Senior Trophy 1st degree, Trophy Senior Patents, Senior Patent Training Trophy and the first stage of selection for the European Ambassador Championships.
