Garmin releases new smartwatch for kids

Garmin has already released smartwatches where the intended users are children. Now they have released a new model called Bounce which provides entertainment and challenge for kids but also serves as an extra help for parents.

The watch doesn’t need to be connected to a mobile phone, but with a mobile subscription connected to the watch, it connects completely on its own. In this way, parents can keep track of where the child is in real time both with the tracking function and by adding fenced areas (so-called geofences), while both the child and the parents can exchange text and voice messages.

Bounce also tracks the child’s activities in the same way as “adult” smartwatches, and it is also possible to create activity challenges where the child together with parents and connected friends can compete against each other, perform activities and get different rewards, and different types of simple games.

The physical dimensions of the watch are 42x42x12.6 millimeters and it weighs 37 grams. The 1.3-inch screen has a resolution of 240×240 pixels. Battery life is up to two days.

Bounce is now available with a price tag of SEK 1,949, then a subscription for LTE functionality of SEK 120/month or SEK 1,200/year is added.
