Garmin has had an outage – update – IT Pro – News since Sunday afternoon

Garmin has been dealing with a malfunction since Sunday afternoon. As a result, Garmin Connect and other company platforms have been affected. Garmin says the outage is caused by problems with one of its carriers.

There have been many problems with Garmin services since Sunday afternoon around 3 p.m. Dutch time, according to reports on sites such as Downdetector. On his status page Garmin confirms that many of its services are down, but the company does not provide substantive details. There are also users who report that the services do work.

According to Garmin, the failure was caused by problems with ‘one of its providers’. The company does not provide more clarity. At the end of last month, Garmin’s services were online for days after a ransomware attack. Garmin has reportedly paid a million dollars in ransom to get out of trouble. There are no indications that it is now another attack.

On Sunday afternoon there were more disruptions in internet services, due to problems at service provider CenturyLink. Cloudflare was affected by a malfunction at that American company, which meant that many websites and services were not available to many users on Sunday afternoon, writes The Verge. The issues with CenturyLink were resolved after a few hours, while the Garmin services are still down.

Update: 20:15: Garmin has updated its status page. The services are back online, according to the company. The cause of the malfunction is unknown.
