Amber-Arlangos club from Gargžda dramatically triumphed in the TOP SPORT Lithuanian men’s volleyball championship, which ended on Sunday at the LSC sports complex “Druskininkai”.
In the first match of the final held on Saturday, after a dramatic fight, “Sūduva” from Marijampole defeated the defending champion team “Amber-Arlanga” 3-2, so the latter desperately needed a rematch on Sunday, so that the outcome of the championship would be decided in a golden set. Having made the right conclusions, the volleyball players of “Amber-Arlanga” dominated the second match and won it 3-0 (25:22, 25:13, 25:13). As a result, the fate of the gold medals was decided in the gold set. In it, “Sūduva” tried to grasp at straws, but the motivated Gargžda team’s volleyball players constantly had a small lead, which they kept until the end of the set. The triumphant players of “Amber-Arlanga” threw the team’s coach, Latvian Austrís Štals, into the air. Artūras Vincelovičius led the champions in the final with 16 points. Daumantas Katinas added 13 points, Ukrainian Andrejs Chmirovs added 10. “Sūduvai” scored 12 points for Linas Petravičius, 7 each for Armandas Bielskus and Patrikas Stankevičius.
Amber-Arlanga became the national champion for the third time in a row. “Amber-Arlanga” this season defended the titles of the LTF Grand Cup and the TOP SPORT Lithuanian championships, and for the first time reached the final four of the Baltic League.
