Jakarta –
Return Gareth Bale ke Real Madrid this summer is speculated to have contributed to the problem, which also involved three Brazilian players at the club.
Bale has completed a loan spell at his former club, Tottenham Hotspur. This summer, the Welshman returns to Real Madrid.
However, Bale’s return has caused problems for Real Madrid regarding the regulation of foreign players, which has also affected Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo and Eder Militao.
The Spanish Football Federation has a maximum restriction of three players outside the European Union (EU) that each squad can register. After Great Britain left the European Union after a transitional period until 31 December 2020, the Spanish football federation made an agreement with clubs that United Kingdom players remain in EU status until the end of last season.
According to AS, the deal is now over so it makes players like Gareth Bale of Real Madrid and Kieran Tripper at Atletico Madrid must be listed in the squad as a player outside the European Union – which is limited to three.
There are exceptions for some South American players, as there is a rule that allows them to obtain Spanish citizenship after staying at least two years in the country. This allows Casemiro at Real Madrid, and Luis Suarez and Angel Correa at Atletico to be registered as EU players.
It also said that the Brazilian trio at Real Madrid, namely Vinicius, Rodrygo and Militao, were still waiting to see if their application was accepted by the federation. Bale’s return will also make El Real have to rack their brains to arrange squad registration.
One of the speculations that has emerged is that Rodrygo, who was signed for 45 million euros in 2019, might play in the Real Madrid reserve team who are currently playing in the domestic third division. He can still be fielded in the Champions League.
Quotes SportsBible, there are also other rumors that Real Madrid have also tried to offer Vinicius to Manchester United for 68.5 million pounds. But the Red Devils prefer a loan with a purchase option.
Besides Gareth Bale and the three Brazilian players, Real Madrid also still has other non-EU players such as Takefusa Kubo and Reinier. Both are expected to be loaned out by Real Madrid so there is no need to register for his squad next season.
