Jan Åge Fjørtoft reacts strongly to the Tottenham star’s attitudes.
Gareth Bale made headlines earlier this week when he made it clear that he plans to return to Real Madrid after the season on loan at Tottenham.
At the same time, the Welshman said that the main reason for his Spurs return this season was to get in fighting shape again.
– I wanted to be in shape for the European Championships, Bale said at a press conference in connection with the national team gathering for Wales this week.
The Welshman’s statements have caused many to react.

– Idiot
One of those who is unimpressed by the statements is the former Norwegian national team player and Viasport reporter Jan Åge Fjørtoft.
To Nettavisen, Fjørtoft says that Bale had done a trick in keeping his mouth shut.
Fjørtoft’s view of Bale was also clear when he visited ESPN this week.
In an interview with the channel, the Norwegian goes extremely hard against the Tottenham player.
– I experience him as an idiot. It was the same when he was at Real Madrid. He won so many trophies there and could have been one of the legends, but then he sits there and it seems he does not care at all. It is disrespectful to Real Madrid and it is disrespectful to Tottenham, says Fjørtoft.
He thinks Bale could have shown more gratitude to Spurs.
– But instead he does the opposite.
– He talks about Tottenham as if it is a gym, says Fjørtoft.

– Do not like his attitude
Fjørtoft tells Nettavisen that he has received many reactions to his interview with ESPN, but that many of the feedback is that people agree with him.
– Gareth Bale had every chance to become a legend in Real Madrid, but he showed with his body language and attitude that he was not very interested in it. Then he comes to Tottenham and does that type of interview. I think that is disrespectful to Tottenham fans, says Fjørtoft to Nettavisen.
The Norwegian does not hide that he has nothing left for the Welshman’s attitudes towards both fans and the club.
– Gareth Bale has had an incredible career and earns an incredible amount of money. He just has to do the same. I’m one of those who has defended Gareth Bale because I think he’s a very good player at his best, but I do not like the attitude he has. I think football players can live an extremely privileged life, but then you can shut up and be respectful of the fans and not least towards Tottenham. Without Tottenham, Bale would never have had the career he has had, Fjørtoft explains.

The Viasport reporter also believes that last week’s statements from Bale are strategically stupid.
– In many ways, he agrees with Zidane and Mourinho that he has an attitude problem.
– It is fantastic that he is doing well for Wales and I hope that he continues with that, but unfortunately it turned out completely wrong, says Fjørtoft.
Bale was in action for Wales against Belgium on Wednesday night. The Tottenham profile could register early for a goal-scoring pass, but the Belgians fought back mercilessly and eventually won the World Cup qualifier 3-1.
