Welsh footballer Gareth Bale has decided to end his professional career at the age of 33.
He last wore the shirt of Los Angeles FC in the overseas MLS, and at the end of last year he appeared for the national team at the World Cup in Qatar.
“It was the hardest decision of my life. I came to this after careful consideration of all the circumstances. I feel incredibly lucky to have been able to work professionally in the sport that I have loved since I was a child. New challenges await me, which I’m looking forward to.” said Bale, who played for Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid during his career.
He achieved his greatest success with the colors of the Spanish club, with which he won the Champions League five times and La Liga three times. He started out with the Welsh national team at EURO 2016 in France, where the ‘dragons’ progressed to the semi-finals.
He also played at EURO 2020, where Wales were eliminated in the round of 16 by Denmark. At the recent world championship in Qatar, the journey of the island team ended already in the basic group. Bale played 111 games for Wales and scored 41 goals.
