Emīls Dārziņš Music School will celebrate its 75th anniversary on October 16 with a magnificent concert “Restart – 75” in the Grand Guild. Although due to restrictions, only the school staff and guests will be able to attend the concert in person, everyone will be able to listen to it live on Latvian Radio 3 “Klasika” and watch it on the school website www.edmv.lv, the event organizers informed in a press release.

The gala concert and the end of the anniversary season were scheduled for this spring, but the current pandemic situation led to its postponement to the autumn, when the school symphony orchestra, which will be the basis of the concert, can meet in joint rehearsals and concerts. Andris Vecumnieks, the orchestra’s artistic director, will be at the conductor’s stand, and the soloists will be outstanding Graduate School graduates, teachers and current students: flutist Dita Krenberga, pianist Agnese Egliņa, percussionist Elīna Endzele, clarinetist Mārtiņš Circenis, double bassist Osk .

Concert conductor Andris Vecumnieks says about the chosen program: “The compositions have been chosen in such a way as to show and highlight the specialties that can be learned at the Gardening School – wind, percussion, string and keyboard instruments. The main motive of the program is – from the past to the present, from history to youth. The concert is the culmination of our anniversary year! ” The symphony orchestra and soloists will feature music by Georges Bizet, Johann Baptist Vanhall, Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdi, Darji Mijo, Manuel de Falja, Jean Sibelius, Georg Pelec and, of course, Emil Darzins. The premiere of composer Agneta Krilova is also expected.

“We are really glad that, despite the circumstances, we have the opportunity to celebrate the important anniversary of the Emils Darzins Music School with a magnificent concert, which will be played together by ‘gardeners’ of different generations – great musicians and future artists, because our real and biggest holidays are music and common life in it. Thanks to the possibilities of modern technology, anyone who calls or once called the Garden School their second home, as well as their relatives, friends, acquaintances and everyone who is close to music, will be able to listen to and watch the anniversary concert live. The school is first and foremost the people in it, so congratulations to all of us – students, teachers, parents and friends – on the birthday of the Garden School! ” says school principal Iveta Dreiblate.

It has already been reported that in 2020, the NMV Emīls Dārziņš Music School celebrates its 75th anniversary, which was celebrated with orchestra concerts, department concerts and other events. It should be reminded that among EDMS graduates there are such musicians as Raimonds Pauls, Gidons Krēmers, Pēteris Vasks, Andris Nelsons, Georgs Pelēcis, Pēteris Plakidis, Juris Karlsons, Mārtiņš Brauns, Inga Kalna, Sigvards Kļava, Māris Sirmais, Māris Sirmais, Māris Sirmais, Māris Šimkus, Reinis Zariņš, Kristīne Blaumane, Gunārs Upatnieks, Dita Krenberga, Guntis Kuzma, Elīna Endzele, Reinis Sējāns, Inese Lūsiņa and many other renowned artists.
