Well-known presenter and news editor, also a collaborator of the now legendary DIY and gardening promoter in the Czech Republic Přemek Podlahy, as well as garden architect Dana Makrlíková will visit the most beautiful gardens in the Czech Republic in the new TV list Seznam.

“Garden masters are a format that I think was missing on the Czech market. But viewers know him from England, Germany and other countries, where he is very successful. The main theme will be the transformation of the garden from the ground up. We will also focus on the reconstruction of gardens or the modification of the entire large terrace, where there was also nothing. The viewer will also see how it is possible to transform the whole garden in a few days. During the transformation, I will always offer the audience a tip on how to create a threshing path or wall. Viewers are also always waiting to stop over some plants. We will focus on hydrangeas, rhododendrons, ornamental grasses and perennials. The spectator will see a visit to the inspiring already finished garden in each work and there will be a visit to the competition garden, when the spectators signed up for us, the winner will receive the title of Master of Gardens, ”describes Dana Makrlíková.

In the first episode, which will air this Saturday, September 4 at 4:45 p.m., he sets off with the TV crew to Slaný, where he will demonstrate how to turn an empty space into a beautiful garden. Viewers will learn to create an elevated flower bed and get important information about swimming pools.

In the second part, spectators can look forward to a garden transformation in Průhonice near Prague. They will also learn how to lay the so-called treads correctly, and together with the TV camera they will visit a beautiful Asian-style garden. She is a source of an inexhaustible amount of inspiration.

A show made for a nation of do-it-yourselfers and gardeners
“Czechs love their gardens. I also feel a huge return to the gardens among young people and the desire not only to have a beautiful garden where they can relax and play with children, but also to grow fruit bushes and trees or strawberries, cucumbers and tomatoes more and more. Especially among the older people, which we also visited as part of the competition, it can be seen that they love their gardens, they enjoy the daily care of the garden. They relax and enjoy every flower. But that love is also manifested in the younger years, they want to lead their children to grow and care for the garden, they want to take care of it, “praises the Czech owners of the gardens Makrlíková and adds:

“One lady, for example, asked what plant she liked best in her garden, and she said she couldn’t say that the other flowers wouldn’t get upset and that she was talking to each flower. The love for gardening can be seen and felt by Czechs at every step. The only thing that is often lacking is some knowledge, and so they make many mistakes. Another contestant told me: ‘I first bought a lot of books, read how to build a garden, and then started creating a garden’ and that’s how it should be. It’s good to first find out information or watch the show Masters of Gardens, where the viewer will find a lot of inspiration and advice. ”

In the second half of September, Dana Makrlíková and her team prepared a work dedicated to the Mediterranean style, in which palm trees and southern European crops play a major role.

However, balconies and terraces and their transformations into oases of peace and greenery will not be left out. They will also advise you on which specific flowers to choose for the boxes and how to take care of them properly.

“Viewers will also see how to create paths or another place to sit and relax, how to create a space for children. In one garden we made a tactile path where children can walk and on each meter there is a different material (stone, bark, sand) and learn new things, ”reveals the guide and the landscape architect in one.

We love gardens, but sometimes we make a little mistake
“The biggest mistake is that people often make a stone garden where a minimum of plants is planted. Or they don’t do group plantings where each plant looks better when at least three are the same next to each other. They don’t know how to run flower beds, they often make them small, they don’t know where to lead their paths, how to create a second sitting in the garden. They often have no idea how tall and wide a plant grows and what space to give such a plant. Viewers will find all such advice in the new show. Of course, everything didn’t fit in there. It would have to be a five-hour show, but the main viewer will see it and we will advise him how to start the garden, ”promises Dana Makrlíková.
