This Friday evening, the Gard gendarmerie group closed a large area in the town of Marguerittes, in order to organize the criminal reconstruction of a double assassination that occurred on June 16, 2019. Almost two years ago, two men were discovered dead, executed by bullets, on a dirt road leading to a farmhouse. A discreet and secluded place, yet barely 150 meters from the busy road that connects Nîmes to Beaucaire.
A double assassination with investigations entrusted to the Research Section of Nîmes. The investigation led to the arrest of two men a few months later. They were indicted for these crimes. Judge Olivier Sabin has been trying this evening since 9 p.m. to understand how the tragedy occurred and that it is the participation of each of the protagonists. This case is said to be linked to drug trafficking. Judge Sabin is accompanied for much of the night by deputy prosecutor Stanislas Vallat who was already there on the day of the discovery of the bodies two years ago. The lawyers of the defendants are also present, we see in particular the silhouette of the Nîmes penalist Isabelle Mimran as well as that of master Jean-Charles Julien who defends one of the two main indicted. Master Marine Santimaria for the victims is also present. The gendarmes and the judge can also rely on the expertise of the ballistician Alain Artuso and the forensic doctor Mounir Benslima, head of the forensic institute of the CHU de Nîmes. A re-enactment is an essential moment in the criminal investigation.
