Gard. These historic buildings will house luxury hotels and restaurants

Another major project will see the light of day Nimes (Gard). After laying the foundation stone of the future Congress Palace or that of the brand new Léo-Rousson school group, the City has just announced the sale of the CCI buildings to the company Nîmes République Investissement (NRI) for 6 million euros.

The deed of sale was signed on November 27, 2023. This ambitious tourist project aims to create a hotel complex composed of two high-end hotels (a 5-star hotel and a 4-star hotel) and two restaurants within the real estate complex of more than 3000 m2.

The operation of these two establishments will be entrusted to the hotel group Sowell Hotels & Residences.

Delivery planned for 2025

This redemption of the Consular Hotel a you Republic building follows the call for projects launched by the City of Nîmes in 2020 and won by NRI in October 2021.

At the origin of the creation of Nîmes République Investissement in partnership with the Banque des Territoires, Jean-Paul Schaeffer is also delighted with this agreement reached with the City of Nîmes.

The Consular Hotel at the center of the project

Beyond benefiting from quality accommodation and additional services, the City is also pleased with the enhancement of local architectural heritage through this project.

The purchaser undertakes to rehabilitate the Consular Hotel“a place steeped in history in an establishment offering a perfect harmony between comfort and prestige, while carefully preserving an exceptional and extraordinary heritage”.

About the Republic building, it will benefit from a complete restructuring and an extension to accommodate the 87 rooms of the 4-star hotel. “Ideally located in the heart of the city center, it will also offer a privileged setting on the edge of the gardens of the Musée de la Romanité and close to the future Palais des Congrès,” concludes the City.

The two hotels in detail

As previously indicated, the operation of these two establishments will be entrusted to the SOWELL Hôtels & Résidences hotel group.

The Grand Hotel Dieu (5 stars) is due to open its doors in January 2025. It will offer refined services (66 rooms and suites), a restaurant “ The Consular Table », a bar, a spa and a seminar room.

The opening of The Arena Villa (4 stars) is planned for July 2025. This “Lifestyle” hotel will offer 87 rooms and suites, a “ La Table d’Apicius », a cozy bar and lounge. Located in the heart of the city, this hotel will be oriented towards a privileged setting on the edge of the gardens of the Musée de la Romanité.
