Saturday, March 26, 2022 an auction of works of art will take place at Carré d’Art in Nimes (Gard)in the morning, and a concert of classical music and current musics will be given at the Théâtre de Nîmes in the evening.
Together for Ukraine
To cope with the humanitarian emergency and come to the aid of the Ukrainian people, the City of Nimes has indeed decided to engage alongside the French Red Cross and to organize a day of mobilization, solidarity and sharing: “Together for Ukraine”.
The City is mobilizing all cultural actors to set up two events that will appeal to the generosity of the people of Nîmes. The funds raised will be donated to the Red Cross to enable the organization to help the Ukrainian population and all those fleeing the war on the ground.
Auction
Saturday March 26, from 10 a.m., an auction ofworks of art will be provided free of charge by the auctioneer Pierre Champion at the Carré d’Art.
Donations from Viallat, Bioulès, Moschini…
Already, more than 25 nationally recognized artistsincluding the Nîmes Claude ViallatGuillaume Moschini, Vincent BioulesStéphane Bordarier or Emma Godesbska, have donated paintings and sculptures for the cause.
Solidarity concert
In the evening, a solidarity concert will take place at Nimes Theater at 8 p.m., in partnership with Smac Paloma with a classical music section and another dedicated to contemporary music.
On the classical side, we will find violinist Baptiste Rodriguesthe pianist Cédric Tiberghien, the Jatekók duo, the flute-piano duo Henry Vaudé and Sébastien Mazoyer from the Nîmes Conservatory, but also soprano Valerie-Anne Debizeand baritone Marc Barrard.
Next will come, for the current music part, the Ukrainian pianist Dimitri Naïditchjazz pianists Raphaël Lemonnier and Stephane Kochoyan, Cuban singer Elena Castillosinger and multi-instrumentalist Pepe Martinez, singers Andres Roe and Marc Simon, as well as artists Faustina and Monsieur Parallele.
Additional financial assistance
Tickets are on sale on the website of Nimes Theater. At the price of 15/30 €. Seats are also available at the Theater reception. 800 seats are on sale and it will also be possible to make a donation during the concert on site.
The city of Nîmes will also propose to the municipal council to adopt, on April 9, a deliberation for an exceptional grant of €15,000 for the benefit of the French Red Cross.
