A hotline for caregivers, a new service open at the Departmental House for People with Disabilities (MDPH) in Nîmes from March 6, 2023
It is the president of the Departmental Council who affirms it, “Since 2020, the Departmental Council has implemented specific actions in favor of carers which are part of departmental coordination with all the professionals concerned in each territory of Gard, Grand Nîmes, Camargue / Vidourle, Gard Rhodanien and Cevennes.“
Françoise Laurent-Perrigot, the president and Christophe Serre in charge of this file are thus a speaking duo. “This new weekly service reinforces these systems. It responds to a need clearly expressed by caregivers during the consultation carried out to develop our Departmental Plan for Social Solidarity. The issue of social ties, cooperation, mutual aid, is an objective at the heart of our solidarity policies.“
Intended for the elderly, disabled or suffering from chronic illness, this service will open its doors every Monday morning at the reception of the MDPH. Professionals and caregivers are available to users, without an appointment, to listen, inform and guide them according to their needs.
The originality of the device is to bring together both a professional and a person in a situation of helping, to be better understood, better heard.
This permanence complements the events that are organized each year to bring together and meet the expectations of caregivers. During the Feria de Nîmes, for example, with the “bodega for carers”, the “national day for carers” on October 6, and other unifying events.
