Gard: 77% success rate for the aviation initiation patent

The diplomas were awarded this Thursday evening in the airport lobby to the 227 winners.

227 students passed the BIA, the aviation initiation certificate, this year. They received their diploma on Thursday evening, in the vast hall of the Nîmes-Garons airport. This is a 77% success rate that fully satisfies Jean-Claude Vegiotti, departmental coordinator and professor of aeronautics at the Frédéric-Mistral vocational school in Nîmes.

The aviation initiation certificate is a national education diploma. It is issued to volunteer students, from the 4th and up to the post-secondary school diploma, who, at the rate of two hours a week, validate a level of initiation into scientific and technical culture in the field of aeronautics and space. In the department there are twenty-five teachers, holders of a certificate of aptitude for aeronautical education, who provide this training.

The actors of a changing world

The exam, taken in May, consists of more than one hundred multiple choice questions in various fields such as meteorology, technology, navigation, history and culture of aeronautics and space. “It is an initiation patent, not a professional patent, but it has weight on a CV, says Jean-Claude Vegiotti. Provided they are motivated, it allows everyone to orient themselves in the aeronautical sector. The expectations of the sector are high. Needs are urgent everywhere. These young people will be the staff tomorrow. “

The teacher’s remarks, addressed to the winners and their parents, many of whom arrived on Thursday evening, were echoed by Grégory Merelo, the airport manager, who promised these young people at a time of great upheaval , to move towards carbon neutrality, “to be actors in this changing world”.
