Garbage collection and water supply, the best valued services in Zaragoza

The selective collection of waste has a 63% satisfaction, while the conservation of parks and gardens and street cleaning are the worst rated.

Garbage collection is the best valued public service in Zaragoza, followed by water supply, according to the study carried out by the Observatory of Urban Services (OSUR) through a survey carried out by Ipsos.

63% of respondents report being satisfied with the garbage collection service. 62% of those from Zaragoza are satisfied with the municipal services as a whole, while only 17% are dissatisfied, figures that place Zaragoza slightly above the national average, of 62% and 21% respectively.

The OSUR Barometer is the first annual survey focused on measuring satisfaction rates and the evolution of citizen assessment, in its role as taxpayers and users, of municipal public services in Spain.

The highly representative and reliable national, regional and local sample includes residents in the 30 most populous cities in the country (Madrid, Barcelona, ​​Valencia, Seville, Zaragoza, Malaga, Alcalá de Henares, Alicante, Badalona, ​​Bilbao, Cartagena, Córdoba, La Coruña, Elche, Gijón, Granada, L’Hospitalet, Jerez de la Frontera, Móstoles, Murcia, Oviedo, Palma de Mallorca, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Pamplona, ​​Sabadell, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Terrassa, Valladolid, Vigo and Vitoria) corresponding to 13 autonomous communities, with 5,262 respondents aged 18 to 79 in the month of July this year. After garbage collection, the best valued services are water supply, with 57% acceptance; public transport with 53%; street cleaning, with 53% and, lastly, the care of parks and gardens, which receives 48% of positive opinions compared to 32% of negative ones.

Regarding garbage collection, the best valued service with 63%, the best considered aspect is the frequency of the service, with 83% of positive opinions. It is followed by the container service for selective collection, with 75% and the endowment and equipment for the provision of the service with 75%.

In the water supply, which receives a score from the citizens of Zaragoza of 57% satisfaction, the most appreciated, with 78% acceptance, is good management with no cuts, continuity in pressure and good operation of the accountant; It is followed by the sewerage service, with 63% and the quality of the water supplied with 58% satisfaction.

Parks and gardens

As for the care of parks and gardens, the lowest rated service, receives 48% of positive opinions compared to 32% of negative. Virtually the national average for this service.

What citizens value this service best is the quality of the facilities, with 56% positive opinions. It is followed by the equipment of parks for different ages, with 55% and the care of green areas with 50%.

For the general director of OSUR, Ramiro Aurín, “the data reveals that the citizens of Zaragoza show a level of satisfaction with municipal public services very similar to that of the national average.”

Aurín has highlighted that the main difference is in the high degree of satisfaction of garbage collection, which in the case of Zaragoza is provided by a concession company.
