A molten metal frame, twisted under the effect of the heat, a devastated warehouse … Desolation scene in a small business in Garancières. A fire destroyed 400 m² of a metallic painting company located at the exit of this town near Thoiry.
The fire, which began in the night from Saturday to Sunday, required, at the height of the action, the intervention of about sixty firefighters from several barracks in the department. The firefighters notably took out four spears and an arm 45 meters long to get as close as possible to the flames.
Five technically unemployed employees?
Sunday morning, three vehicles were still there to avoid a resumption of fire, under control at dawn. There were no injuries but the damage was considerable. In the heart of the blaze, the metal beams are totally deformed, the warehouse walls destroyed, in some places only retained by the pile of roof waste. The firefighters did not send their equipment specializing in chemical risks, which suggests an absence of pollution.
The origin of the incident is currently unknown. The Houdan gendarmerie is in charge of the investigation, according to an officer of the department. “For the moment, it is impossible to access the premises. The investigators will go on site this Monday with specialized teams of firefighters, ”indicates the same source according to whom the five employees of the company should be on technical unemployment.
