SEMARANG, KOMPAS.com – Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo asked the ESDM Office Central Java checking and handling related to the cause of the extinguishing of the Mrapen Eternal Flame.
Previously, the eternal fire which was located in Manggarma Village, Godong Subdistrict, Grobogan Regency was reportedly extinguished since last September 25.
“I asked ESDM to check whether there is something. Is it because the reserves in it are exhausted, or because of the influence of exploitation from either side of it. We are asking for checks,” said Ganjar, Friday (2/10/2020).

He suspects that the death of Mrapen’s eternal flame could be caused by natural factors, resulting in exhausted gas sources in it.
In addition, other possibilities such as the presence of disturbances and exploration of the surrounding area.
“Maybe there is interference from the left and right. It could be that there is someone next to him who is doing something disturbing. For example, someone is digging here, then the gas leaks into the dug hole. I asked the team to check and investigate as well as conduct research,” he said.

Therefore, Ganjar sent a team to conduct research to determine the cause of the extinguishing of Mrapen’s eternal flame.
“I ask these geologists to take action. But now we are checking, I ask for a report on the progress,” he concluded.
