Ganjar Pranowo stresses the need for staged energy transition in Indonesia

Jakarta

Presidential Candidate (Capres) from PDIP, Ganjar Pranowo reminded that Indonesia’s energy transition must be carried out in stages. He warned that something should not be rushed into ruin.

“I’m sorry, I don’t think we can act like we’re going to move and then we’ll be destroyed, don’t. We’re preparing it, but the roadmap is being implemented and it’s true that the country already exists, we just have to do it,” said Ganjar at the Workshop of 100 Indonesian Economists at the Bank Mega Tower. , Jakarta, Wednesday (8/11/2023).

Ganjar admitted that he had been asked by the Dutch ambassador about Indonesia’s energy transition road map. The ambassador questioned why Indonesia continues to use new stone energy amidst its net zero emission target.

Ganjar did not dodge when asked this question. He agreed to the Dutch ambassador’s question, while at the same time taking a swipe at coal entrepreneurs.

“I said yes, our people have it, I don’t deny it and Indonesian coal entrepreneurs are rich, is that true? It must be true. Is it really only used in our place? No, where? Export. Hi exporting countries, You use it too,” he said.

According to him, to move towards an energy transition a process is needed first using ultra supercritical clean technology.

“Certainly the roadmap is that we will reduce it, but even if we can’t reduce it, we still need it, using technology that doesn’t pollute. What is that? Ultra supercritical,” he added.
