Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo said his commitment to fighting intolerance, radicalism and terrorism would never be broken. This statement was made by Ganjar after his personal social media account was attacked by netizens because FIFA canceled Indonesia as the host U-20 World Cup.
In an upload on Instagram @ganjar_pranowo, Thursday (30/3), Ganjar uploaded a video of his dialogue with the repentant perpetrators of the Bali Bombing I terrorism.
“I always remind and emphasize that the fight against intolerance, radicalism and terrorism is a never-ending commitment,” Ganjar wrote in a statement on the video.
He said the struggle against intolerance, radicalism and terrorism can be done in various ways, such as education, diplomacy, to ways that are unpopular in society.
According to Ganjar, the struggle can be carried out in various ways and strategies, namely through education, seminars, diplomacy, and other methods that may not be popular in the eyes of the public.
“Berated and be-bully is a risk that we sometimes have to take from that choice. Because what we do cannot always satisfy everyone,” said Ganjar.
“What is certain is that we have one goal, to maintain peace and unity in this Republic that we love. Greetings,” he said.
Netizens stormed Ganjar’s social media account after FIFA canceled Indonesia as the host for the U-20 World Cup. Ganjar was one of the regional heads who refused the arrival of the Israeli national team to compete in Indonesia.
Ganjar’s post about his activities visiting a nursing home was flooded with comments about the 2023 U-20 World Cup.
“Thank you for destroying the dreams of the nation’s children,” said a netizen on Ganjar’s Instagram page.
“Hopefully he will become the President of Palestine,” wrote one of the accounts, satirizing Ganjar.
“Respect my Governor, willing to reject Israel for the sake of hurting the hearts of their own people,” alluded to netizens.
